Turnout vs Choosy

Choosy has been choosing browsers on the Mac since 2007, with rules, a prompt and extensions that move a page from one browser to another. Turnout is newer and built around Chrome profiles and the links work sends you, with a free version.

Choose Choosy if

  • You want browser extensions that send the page you’re on to another browser.
  • You want rules for private browsing windows.

Choose Turnout if

  • You want to start free and only pay for more rules.
  • Your links arrive wrapped by Slack, Google or Outlook SafeLinks and should still match your rules.
  • You sign in to several Slack workspaces and want each sign-in in the matching Chrome profile.
  • You want a link tester that explains which rule caught a link.

Switching from Choosy

Once Turnout is out, install it, choose it as your default browser when it asks, then recreate your Choosy rules in Settings › Rules. Turnout finds your browser profiles for you.
